I want the morning sun in my bedroom

I want the morning sun in my bedroom. When I wake up, the first few minutes affect my mood for the whole day. I wake up, lie down for a while, think, and in the meantime my mood takes shape. And no matter where my thoughts wander, the sun always drives away the bad and useless ones, just as the wind blows away the clouds.

In the evening, on the other hand, I want the sun to shine into my living room. I want the golden rays to reflect on the walls and play a game of shadows through the huge french window. I want to sit in front of that window, or walk out into the shores and catch the last rays of the day on my face.

I even want the sun painted on my heavy ceramic plates that my friend Giovanna made. Her pottery workshop is near the Mediterranean sea, like my house. She often paints plates outside, letting the sun and sea be her inspiration.

I never get tired of the sun

I used to have a photo gallery that I called "Dream". I saved photos that made me feel: I want this. I want to live here one day. It feels like home. And guess what that pictures had in common? The sun.

I never get tired of the sun. It has become a symbol of a dream that I am fulfilling. Yet I also wish for clouds in my life.

I want clouds. I want to listen to the raindrops drumming on the metal sill of my window. I want to have a big library in a small apartment. I can take a book and read in front of the rainy view. I turn on the lights and make it more cozy here. In the evening I go for a drink with friends downtown, but now I can still read.

I should go to the market. I'll go in the morning. I love the morning markets in Paris. I'll buy vegetables, cheese and flowers. Hopefully the sun will shine again tomorrow? And if not, that's okay. My friends and I are going to the museum and have a coffee. We need to discuss when they'll come to my place in Italy. I have a surprise for one of them. A painting. I'm working on a painting of their dog. He's a French bulldog. Le Bouledogue. When my friends were at my place last winter, that cute lazy dude was basking right outside the french window and I tripped over him while I was carrying a bowl of lemons. Of course I broke it, but that's okay. Shards mean luck, don't they? And Giovanna has already promised me a new one...

With a drawing of the sun, of course.

With the memory that once I had nothing but this article and a dream about all of this.

With love, M. ❤︎

Illo title: Lemons. Once I had nothing but this article and a dream about all of this.
